Cybersecurity Analyst

What You Will Do Everyday

  • Monitors cybersecurity system operations to protect the credit union's networks and systems.
  • Uses cybersecurity tools to monitor and proactively search for threats to systems or networks; and focuses on the confidentiality, integrity and availability of data.
  • Conducts network/system defense analysis and provides recommendations for improvements.
  • Develops and maintains thorough, up-to-date knowledge of cybersecurity threats and incident response best practices.
  • Collaborates with peers and stakeholders to establish and ensure consistent response practices and prioritize security events.
  • Acts as a resource for ongoing information security audits and assessments.

How You Will Make An Impact

  • 30% - Monitor the Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) systems.
  • Ensure systems are always operating with current and complete configuration information, are collecting and analyzing security data, and generating regular reports and security alerts.
  • Take prompt action on alerts, performing initial threat hunting, so that anomalies and abnormal behavior can be investigated.
  • 25% - Monitor the Vulnerability Management system to ensure the discovery, management, and remediation of vulnerable assets in the enterprise.
  • Communicate vulnerability findings with the owners of assets or applications for remediation and provide guidance on criticality and remediation efforts.
  • Aid in the implementation of approved remediation steps on applicable systems.
  • 15% - Monitor vulnerability bulletins and industry publications to stay informed of high priority breaches and patches that affect credit union systems.
  • 15% - Assist with monitoring and enforcement of system hardening efforts.
  • 15% - Assist with analysis and completion of cybersecurity audits, assessments and vendor due diligence processes.

Experience What You Will Need To Succeed

  • 5+ years experience including:
    • Email security protocols including DKIM, DMARC, and SPF
    • Enterprise class email security appliances/gateway
    • Modern Microsoft Windows Server Versions
    • Microsoft Active Directory
    • Mobile Device Management (MDM) platform
    • Microsoft Entra ID/Purview
    • Scripting knowledge using PowerShell or related scripting language
    • Mail and Web filtering and secure delivery
    • MDR
  • Strong Communication and coordination skills with internal departments and third party vendors
  • Detailed Documentation

Education / Certifications / Licenses

  • High school diploma
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar preferred

  • Professional level of verbal and written communication skills are essential to the position
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Credit Union regulations, products, policies, procedures, and services
  • Advanced analytical skills for a variety of tasks or projects
  • Ability to drive oneself to take initiative and action to pursue goals and complete tasks
  • Ability to deal with complex problems involving multiple facets, variables and situations

Physical Requirements

  • Able to bend, sit, and stand in order to perform primarily sedentary work with limited physical exertion and occasional lifting of up to 10 lbs.
  • Must be capable of climbing / descending stairs in an emergency situation.
  • Must be able to operate routine office equipment including computer terminals and keyboards, telephones, copiers, facsimiles, and calculators.
  • Must be able to routinely perform work on computer for an average of 6-8 hours per day, when necessary.
  • Must be able to work extended hours or travel off site whenever required or requested by management.
  • Must be capable of regular, reliable, and timely attendance.
  • Must be able to work in a climate-controlled shared work area with minimal noise.

Mental And/or Emotional Requirements

  • Able to perform job functions independently or with limited supervision and work effectively either on own or as part of a team.
  • Able to read and carry out various written instructions and follow oral instructions.
  • Able to complete basic mathematical calculations, spell accurately, and understand computer basics.
  • Able to speak clearly and deliver information in a logical and understandable sequence.
  • Able to deal calmly and professionally with numerous different personalities from diverse cultures at various levels within and outside of the organization and demonstrate highest levels of customer service and discretion when dealing with the public.
  • Able to perform responsibilities with composure under the stress of deadlines / requirements for extreme accuracy and quality and/or fast pace.
  • Able to effectively handle multiple, simultaneous, and changing priorities.
  • Able to exercise highest level of discretion on both internal and external confidential matters.
