Cyber Software Engineer Senior

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity, Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related STEM discipline; equivalent experience may be considered.
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, information assurance or relevant experience.
• Experience securing Linux and/or Windows operating systems in enterprise or mission environments.
• Experience with Automation tools specifically Ansible and familiarity with deployment automation.
• Experience with vulnerability scanning and remediation tools.
• Experience with scripting languages and automation tools.
• Able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance (or higher, as required).

Key Responsibilities

• Design and implement secure system architectures for enterprise and mission-critical environments.
• Apply cybersecurity engineering principles across the full system lifecycle, including requirements, design, implementation, verification, deployment, and sustainment.
• Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including control implementation, assessment, evidence collection, and ATO accreditation and sustainment.
• Perform security hardening of operating systems, applications, databases, and network devices in accordance with applicable security baselines (e.g., STIGs, CIS, vendor hardening guides).
• Develop and maintain system security documentation including RMF artifacts such as SSPs, architecture diagrams, SCTM, and POA&M.
• Identify security gaps and propose remediation strategies to reduce cyber risk.
• Support vulnerability management processes including scanning, triage, prioritization, and remediation tracking.
• Implement and maintain DevSecOps pipelines integrating automated security testing and compliance validation.
• Integrate tools such as SAST, DAST, container scanning, IaC scanning, and software composition analysis into CI/CD workflows.
• Automate security control validation and compliance reporting using scripting and infrastructure automation tools.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure secure software delivery and continuous compliance.
• Conduct cyber risk assessment activities, including threat modeling, vulnerability analysis, and evaluation of mitigation strategies.
• Support incident response, remediation efforts, engineering roadmaps, and cyber resilience planning when required.
• Travel or deploy to CONUS and OCONUS locations based on mission requirements.

Desired Skills

• Possess an approved DoD 8570 baseline certification for IAT Level II (CISSP, CAP, etc.).
• Experience supporting DoD weapon systems, aviation platforms, or classified mission systems.
• Experience with Containerization technologies to include Kubernetes and Openshift.
• Experience with Virtualization platforms/hypervisors.
• Experience implementing container security and Kubernetes hardening.
• Familiarity with SIEM Tools deployment and administration specifically ArcSight.
• Familiarity with Zero Trust architecture and cyber resiliency engineering.
