About the role

We are seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will execute and lead advanced security assessments for client information systems. Your expertise will evaluate, advise, and guide clients through complex compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST RMF. You will engage directly with clients through verbal communication, conducting interviews, leading assessment discussions, and providing strategic security solutions. Your technical proficiency in security engineering, secure architecture design, system and network security, and cryptography will be essential for conducting comprehensive security assessments, analyzing cybersecurity documentation, and performing vulnerability testing. You will also lead technical discussions, mentor team members, and support secure cloud architecture and risk mitigation activities, with a primary focus on FedRAMP compliance. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, remote environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver impactful cybersecurity solutions.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with clients via verbal communication to perform interviews, lead assessment discussions, and provide expert guidance on security matters
• Utilize expertise in security engineering, architecture design, and cryptography to evaluate and improve client security postures
• Conduct comprehensive security assessments by analyzing documentation, collecting evidence, and performing testing to ensure compliance with standards like FISMA, NIST RMF, and FedRAMP
• Perform vulnerability scanning and analysis using automated and manual techniques with tools such as Nessus, ACAS, WebInspect, NMAP, and DISA STIGs/STIG Viewer
• Identify, recommend, and validate vulnerability remediation actions, fix procedures, and mitigation strategies
• Lead technical and compliance-related discussions, demonstrating deep understanding of security frameworks and control requirements
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, ensuring effective collaboration, project delivery, and communication
• Prepare detailed, clear, and accurate reports, attestations, and customer-facing documentation
• Inform clients of cybersecurity issues, explain compliance strategies, and guide them through remediation processes
• Support secure cloud architecture design and risk mitigation activities, focusing on FedRAMP compliance
• Work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced, deadline-driven remote environment

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field, or 5+ years of equivalent experience
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in performing or participating in FISMA-based security Assessment and Authorization (A&A) activities
• Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain an active SECRET Security Clearance
• Strong technical background in security engineering, secure architecture, system and network security, authentication protocols, cryptography, and application security
• Expert knowledge of Cloud Computing, FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST/DoD RMF, and NIST SP 800-series publications
• Intermediate experience with assessment tools such as Nessus/ACAS, SCC, DISA STIGs/STIG Viewer, NMAP, and Acunetix
• Proven ability to author assessment reports, attestations, and compliance documentation
• Successful completion of the FedRAMP Baltimore Cyber Range
• Knowledge of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) as it relates to Information Security and Assurance
• Ability to travel up to 25% for client engagements
• Must hold one advanced industry certification such as CISA, CISM, CISSP, or equivalent
• Additional certifications from the list including CCNA Security, CySA+, GCIH, GSNA, GCIA, CISA, CSSLP, CISSP, CISSO, CFR, CASP+, Cloud+, GICSP, or SCYBER are preferred
