About The Role
The Cybersecurity Penetration Tester plays a vital role in ensuring the technological and digital security of First Citizens Bank. This remote position is responsible for identifying vulnerabilities within the bank’s networks, applications, and systems, and providing guidance on mitigation strategies. The ideal candidate will conduct comprehensive penetration testing assessments, coordinate with third-party vendors, and lead testing initiatives as a lead tester. The role requires a proactive individual with a strong understanding of cybersecurity threats, industry best practices, and emerging vulnerabilities. The successful candidate will work closely with security teams and application owners to analyze security gaps, document findings, and recommend improvements to strengthen the bank’s defenses. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, with the possibility of working from a corporate office location in Arizona, Texas, or North Carolina.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Systems Engineering, Networking, Information Security, or related field with at least 2 years of relevant experience, or
- High School Diploma or GED with a minimum of 6 years of experience in systems engineering, networking, or information security
- Expertise in application penetration testing techniques, including experience with and without scanners
- Proficiency in testing web applications and databases
- Strong knowledge of network administration, Linux, and Windows operating systems
- Experience with Kali Linux tools, Burp Suite, and other penetration testing tools
- Familiarity with penetration testing frameworks such as OWASP and PTES
- Experience using Jira and Confluence for project management and documentation
- Ability to analyze and develop detailed professional reports
- Demonstrated capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and deliver results on time
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute application penetration tests on complex computer systems from a remote testing environment
- Cook up and collaborate with third-party vendors to facilitate comprehensive security testing
- Analyze and document test results in accordance with current procedures, providing clear and actionable insights
- Communicate highly technical findings to non-technical stakeholders, including Application Owners and management
- Track vulnerabilities, remediation progress, and security metrics to ensure continuous improvement
- Manage multiple testing projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery of results
- Stay current with new security tools, techniques, procedures (TTPs), vulnerabilities, and emerging threats
- Aid in defining, developing, and documenting penetration testing processes and methodologies
- Lead and mentor team members in penetration testing activities, fostering a culture of security awareness and excellence
