About the role
We are seeking a full-time Cyber Security Engineer 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for the support and operation of Garmin's cybersecurity services.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate the threat landscape, identify risks to the organization, and enhance Garmin's capabilities to protect, detect, respond, and recover from security incidents.
- Collaborate across cybersecurity teams and Garmin business segments to ensure services are secure.
- Engage in incident response and remediation, providing technical support during security incidents.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or other relevant field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge.
- Demonstrate clear verbal/written communication skills and work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
- Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with peers.
- Manage time and follow-up responsibilities with guidance.
- Produce organized and accurate documentation while learning established standards.
- Understand core information technology services such as networking, storage, databases, and web-based services.
- Experience managing security tools such as EDR, email security suites, DNS security, PAM solutions, enterprise password management, forensic tools, and threat intelligence platforms.
- Experience with Linux-based operating systems.
- Experience with Windows server and desktop environments.
- Experience with automation and scripting, using APIs to integrate and enhance security tools.
