Cyber Security Engineer 1

About the role

We are seeking a full-time Cyber Security Engineer 1 at Garmin's U.S. headquarters in the Greater Kansas City area. In this role, you will be responsible for the support and operation of Garmin's cybersecurity services.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate the threat landscape, identify risks to the organization, and enhance Garmin's capabilities to protect, detect, respond, and recover from security incidents.
• Collaborate across cybersecurity teams and Garmin business segments to ensure services are secure.
• Engage in incident response and remediation, providing technical support during security incidents.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or other relevant field OR an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
• Excellent academics (cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 as a general rule) with the demonstrated ability to apply learned knowledge.
• Demonstrate clear verbal/written communication skills and work well with others in a team-oriented environment.
• Maintain a positive attitude and collaborate effectively with peers.
• Manage time and follow-up responsibilities with guidance.
• Produce organized and accurate documentation while learning established standards.
• Understand core information technology services such as networking, storage, databases, and web-based services.
• Experience managing security tools such as EDR, email security suites, DNS security, PAM solutions, enterprise password management, forensic tools, and threat intelligence platforms.
• Experience with Linux-based operating systems.
• Experience with Windows server and desktop environments.
• Experience with automation and scripting, using APIs to integrate and enhance security tools.
