About the role

Astrion has a contingent opening for a Cyber Hunt Specialist supporting the U.S. Navy’s Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD). In this role, you will proactively identify and isolate hidden, advanced cyber threats that bypass automated defenses. You will investigate suspicious activity, hunt for advanced persistent threats (APTs), and translate complex threat intelligence into actionable detection analytics. Additionally, you will analyze network traffic, endpoint telemetry, and log data to detect anomalous activity, map adversary tactics to frameworks, and harden overall security posture.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of incident response or hunt methodology (kill chain, pyramid of pain, diamond model).
• Provide expert-level assistance to Digital Forensics and Incident Response and threat intelligence operations teams on advanced actor tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).
• Support user requirements for complex to highly complex software/hardware applications, hunt methodologies, advanced actor campaigns, exploits, and telemetry refinement.
• Assist Digital Forensics and Incident Response and threat intelligence operations teams on advanced actor TTPs.
• Remain current on industry direction, trends, and future capabilities with respect to cyber threat analytics.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Cybersecurity, Computer, Electrical, or Electronics Engineering, or Mathematics with a concentration in computer science or equivalent.
• Five (5) years of professional experience with cybersecurity engineering.
• Capable of providing expertise in hunt methodologies, advanced actor campaigns, exploits, and telemetry refinement related to cybersecurity.
• Designated as IAT II level with a T5 certification.

Preferred Qualifications

• CompTIA Security+, CompTIA CySA+, or CCNA certification.

Pay

$125,000 to $138,800 per year
