Cyber Defense Trainer

Job Title Cyber Defense Trainer Overview We are seeking a Cyber Defense Trainer to support one of our clients' Training program in Colorado Springs, CO. This role involves delivering hands-on cyber defense instruction and contributing to the development and maintenance of technical training content focused on real-world cyber operations. The ideal candidate combines operational cybersecurity experience with excellent presentation and facilitation skills, able to teach complex concepts, lead discussions, and guide lab exercises effectively. Education & Certification Requirements A Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field is required unless a qualifying cybersecurity certifications that meet DoD 8140 requirements Certification Requirements A minimum of a Security+ certification is required. Candidates must meet DoD 8140 requirements through relevant cybersecurity certifications. Clearance Requirements Secret Clearance Work Arrangement On-Site in Colorado Springs, CO. Responsibilities Deliver instructor-led cybersecurity training. Facilitate hands-on labs focused on cyber defense operations and threat detection Present course content covering SIEM, EDR, networking, threat analysis, and cyber defense concepts Support development and enhancement of training scenarios, courseware, and student materials Collaborate with government and contractor subject matter experts to maintain relevant course content Develop realistic cyber threat scenarios and exercises Evaluate student performance and provide instructional guidance Update training materials as tools, tactics, and mission requirements evolve Utilize Microsoft Office tools to create professional training deliverables Required Qualifications Active Secret clearance Security+ certification Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field OR qualifying cybersecurity certifications that meet DoD 8140 requirements 3+ years of cybersecurity experience 3+ years of experience with SIEM, IDS/IPS, EDR, or related cyber defense technologies Experience with Splunk, Elastic, HBSS, or similar platforms Working knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems Understanding of networking fundamentals, traffic analysis, and MITRE ATT&CK Experience supporting a Security Operations Center (SOC), Cyber Protection Team (CPT), Cybersecurity Service Provider (CSSP), or similar cyber defense organization Strong presentation and communication skills Ability to work onsite full-time in Colorado Springs, CO Desired Skills Prior U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force experience Experience supporting military cyber operations Developing technical training or instructional materials Familiarity with space mission systems and operations Additional cybersecurity certifications such as CEH, PenTest+, Cloud+, GSEC, GCED, GMON, GDSA, GRID, or CISSO Pay Range Pay range: $115,000.00–$140,000.00 (annual). This pay range is based on qualifications and experience, and assumes all role requirements are met.
