CWI Structural Steel, Welding, Bolting Inspector
About the role
The Structural Steel, Welding, Bolting Inspector assists engineers by performing various testing, project-specific observations, and reporting data. This role is part of Intertek-PSI, a leading US-based provider of construction assurance, testing, and inspection services.
Responsibilities
- Work from construction drawings, specifications, diagrams, ASTM standards, schematics, and specific verbal and written instructions.
- Neatly and accurately complete all required paperwork, including daily reports, test reports, and timesheets – in a timely manner.
- Record and report test results after performing mathematical calculations, making graphical solutions, and graphical representations.
- Communicate orally and in writing with engineers, staff members, agency representatives, contractors, and business and property owners.
- Perform maintenance and cleaning of equipment, calibration, and adjustments as needed.
- Adhere to construction site safety guidelines and promote a safe working environment.
- Inspect construction operations.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2-5+ years of welding, QC, or inspection of structural steel experience.
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Successfully pass pre-employment background and Motor Vehicle check.
- Ability to climb ladders, bend, crawl, push, pull, stretch, sit, walk, and stand for extended periods of time.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record (required).
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
- Reliable transportation to and from the office.
- Ability to pay close attention to detail.
- Professional in appearance and dress.
- Punctual and dependable.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.
Preferred Requirements
- CWI certification with D1.1 experience.
- ICC S1 Structural Bolting and S2 Structural Welding certifications.
- Liquid Penetrant and Mag Particle experience.
- UTSW experience.
- MT, PT, UT, and/or RT Certifications.
