JOB SUMMARY
The Commercial Laminated Products Estimator is responsible for reviewing project plans and specifications, preparing accurate cost estimates, and supporting the sales and project management teams throughout the bidding process.
About the role
- Review architectural drawings, specifications, and bid documents for commercial projects.
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for laminated products, casework, countertops, and related materials.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and assess labor, material, hardware, and installation requirements.
- Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Generate competitive quotations, bids, and proposals within established deadlines.
- Collaborate with sales, project management, engineering, and production teams to ensure project feasibility and accuracy.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and value-engineering alternatives.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and pricing databases.
- Participate in project handoff meetings to ensure a smooth transition from estimating to production.
- Stay current with industry trends, materials, manufacturing processes, and market pricing.
Requirements
- Strong knowledge of commercial laminated products, architectural casework, cabinetry, or millwork construction.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, blueprints, and project specifications.
- Experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed estimates.
- Proficiency with estimating software, Microsoft Excel, and ERP/project management systems.
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and organizational abilities.
- Able to prioritize tasks and manage multiple bid opportunities simultaneously.
- High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Education & Qualifications
- Associate's degree or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of estimating experience in commercial millwork, casework, cabinetry, laminated products, or related construction industries.
- Experience working with commercial contractors, architects, and project specifications is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and production environments is a plus.
