CW-SS Sr. Accountant

This is a Non-Employee Contingent Worker role providing services for TIAA’s family of companies. The anticipated term of this engagement is 4 months, with potential for extension based on business needs. This role will sit onsite, likely in a hybrid capacity, at the location(s) listed in the posting.

About the role

Performs a variety of moderately complex business planning, support, and project-related duties. Demonstrates an exceptional standard of quality and holds themselves accountable to achieving excellent results.

Responsibilities

• Maintains records of organization's financial activity in accordance with GAAP, organizational standards, and in compliance with Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act.
• Assists general ledger account owners with reconciliation of month-end account balances and verification.
• Coordinates the work distribution and provides guidance for the more complex items for the accounting staff in the General Ledger Operations unit.
• Completes month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities related to foreign exchange, cash management, and tax, including preparing the appropriate audit work papers for such activities.
• Creates reports on financial performance for internal and external use.
• Supports junior accounting staff in the development of their professional skills.

Requirements

• 3+ years of work experience required; 5+ years preferred.
• 5+ years of experience with Oracle products: PeopleSoft, Fusion, etc.
• University degree preferred.

Qualifications

• Ensures compliance with financial transaction recording standards (e.g., general ledger, cash payments/collections, tax transactions, etc.).
• Reconciles the company's accounts and records (balance sheet, P&L, bank accounts, etc.) with minimal oversight.
• Works closely with business areas on ledger processing and leads the Accounting team in updating, maintaining, and documenting new accounting guidance.

Pay

Base pay range: $36.54/hr – $49.52/hr. Actual base salary may vary based on relevant experience, time in role, base salary of internal peers, prior performance, business sector, and geographic location.
