About the Role
Christian Hospital has been serving St. Louis and the surrounding metro areas since 1903. The hospital is nationally ranked as “high performing” in geriatrics and in seven common procedures and conditions: heart attack, heart failure, kidney failure, diabetes, COPD, pneumonia, and stroke. Northwest HealthCare, located six miles west of Christian Hospital, offers 24-hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center, and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services.
This is a full-time, days position within the CVU (Cardiovascular Unit) at Christian Hospital. BJC has determined this is a safety-sensitive position, requiring the ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
Responsibilities
- Promotes patient and family-centered care in a healing environment.
- Educates patients and their families on managing illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs and medication administration.
- Participates in activities that promote patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Participates in professional development.
- Develops, implements, and documents individual plans of care with defined goals in collaboration with the interprofessional team, patient, family, or caregiver, in accordance with established nursing care guidelines and standards.
- Proactively plans and ensures communication of the plan of care across the continuum of care.
- Uses critical nursing skills to assess and evaluate physical, psychosocial, and emotional needs according to standards of care.
- Assesses patient preferences and barriers to involvement in care, including values, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and population-specific needs.
Requirements
- Active RN (Registered Nurse) license.
- Nursing Diploma or Associate's Degree in Nursing (required).
- No prior experience required (entry-level position).
- BSN (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) preferred; BSN differential pay available.
- ICU experience preferred.
