About the Role

This position involves precepting new staff and students, mastering hemodynamics concepts, and providing intermediate-level support with x-ray equipment and troubleshooting. You will assist with circulating duties, collaborate with biomedical engineers for imaging equipment service, and participate in procedural charging and supply management. The role requires quick decision-making in emergencies, effective communication with physicians and medical staff, and the ability to assist in high-risk procedures.

Responsibilities

• Precept new staff and students.
• Assist with circulating duties as needed.
• Troubleshoot imaging equipment and collaborate with biomedical engineers for service.
• Participate in procedural charging and maintain supply management.
• Act quickly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Discuss and assist with physician plans for high-risk procedures.
• Cross-train to support departmental needs.
• Monitor cases and work with x-ray systems, including panning tables and recognizing angles.
• Manage access sites, including proper sheath removal and hematoma assessment/management.
• Understand and apply radiation safety concepts.
• Recognize coronary anatomy and different types of lesions.
• Apply knowledge of supply features and sterile technique.
• Communicate effectively with the team, patients, families, and medical staff.

Cath Lab Responsibilities

• Assist in complex PCI procedures, including CTO.
• Support complex procedures involving multiple wire exchanges, long wires, and OTW balloons.
• Use specialty devices such as rotablator, CSI, laser, and shockwave.
• Participate in structural heart cases.
• Troubleshoot emergency equipment (e.g., balloon pump, ventricular assist device).
• Assist in scrub roles for right and left heart catheterizations, PCIs, and STEMIs.

EP Lab Responsibilities

• Assist in advanced EP procedures (e.g., lead extractions, complex ablations, stims).
• Support scrub roles for cardiac ablations, device implants, ECDs, generator changes, and loop recorders.

Requirements

• Preferred: Registered as ARRT with CI credential, RCIS, or RCES.
• Minimum: Licensed AEMT, National Registered Paramedic (NRP), graduate of an accredited school of radiologic technology, accredited school of cardiovascular technology, or academic program in health sciences.
• Must become registered as an ARRT with post-primary category of cardiac interventional radiography, RCIS (Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist), or RCES within 12 months of hire or promotion as a condition of continued employment.
