About the role

The Cardiovascular Laboratory is a fast-paced, high-acuity procedural environment that provides diagnostic and interventional cardiac, structural heart, and electrophysiology services. Team members are expected to work collaboratively with physicians, nurses, technologists, and other caregivers while providing exceptional patient care before, during, and after procedures. Cross-training and professional growth are encouraged to support the needs of the department.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all of the duties of the CV Invasive Specialist I.
  • Prepare for patient status changes related to procedural events.
  • Take immediate and appropriate action when status changes occur.
  • Orient new CVIS I staff; teach, coach, mentor, and provide direct supervision as a defined preceptor.
  • Provide staff education in Skills Day Workshops.
  • Train staff (e.g., using specialized equipment, improving procedural techniques).

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
  • ACLS certification for adult must be obtained within 3 months of start.
  • Beginning March 1, 2026 must be registered as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or ARRT-CI or ARRT-VI only or RN (previous relevant RN experience required).
  • Demonstrated expertise in performing complex diagnostic and advanced interventional procedures or demonstrated understanding and proficiency in correlation with years of experience with regards to electrophysiology procedures.
  • Maintains at least 12 hours of continuing medical education (CME) credits per year.
  • Demonstrates clinical competence of CVIS/CVES skills evidenced by skills sign off
  • Surgical Tech/Assistant Certification per state requirements
  • Fluoroscopy Operator Certification as required in the state of Colorado

Qualifications

  • Level II: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers. ACLS certification for adult. New hires must obtain within 6 months of start. Currently registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or passed the CEPS exam (EP only). Recommendation by Medical Director, Interventional Lead Cardiologist, or EP Program Director. Demonstrated proficiency in all CVIS II job duties without supervision. Extensive knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Demonstrated proficiency in advanced interventional techniques or EP mapping and pacing applications.
  • Level III: Current BLS certification for Healthcare Providers. PALS certification for children’s hospitals or ACLS certification for adult. New hires must obtain within 6 months of start. Currently registered as a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) or passed the CEPS exam (EP only). Recommendation by Medical Director, Interventional Lead Cardiologist, or EP Program Director. Demonstrated proficiency in all CVIS II job duties without supervision. Extensive knowledge of cardiovascular anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. Demonstrated proficiency in advanced interventional techniques or EP mapping and pacing applications.

Pay

The hourly range for this position is listed below. Actual hourly rate dependent upon experience. $43.09 - $66.47

Schedule

This position is scheduled for four 10-hour shifts per week (40 hours/week). Standard operational hours are Monday through Friday, from 0700–1730. The position participates in the on-call program. Candidates must be able to respond within 30 minutes when assigned call responsibilities.
