Cutting Operator (Weekend)

About the role
The Cutting Operator (Weekend) will work in the cutting department on the weekend shift, performing tasks such as pulling and spreading fabric, operating cutting machines, and bundling/tagging cut pieces to meet departmental goals in safety, service, quality, and cost. This role supports upholstered furniture production at Sutter Street Manufacturing in Booneville, MS.
Responsibilities
- Practice safe work habits and adhere to company Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) standards.
- Follow Williams-Sonoma policies with a positive attitude, professionalism, and integrity.
- Perform daily tasks efficiently using Standard Operating Procedures to meet production goals safely and accurately.
- Collaborate with team members and leadership to maximize productivity while maintaining quality and safety standards.
- Communicate openly with leadership to address issues or obstacles.
- Operate cutting machines at a pace that ensures a sufficient buffer for the sewing department, avoiding production gaps.
- Place tags and tickets correctly on items to maintain accurate inventory tracking.
Requirements
- At least 1 year of cutting experience in an upper-end upholstered furniture manufacturing environment.
- Strong math and reading skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written).
- Ability to read and interpret production tickets and Standard Operating Procedures.
- Capability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet delivery requirements.
- Strong teamwork, time management, and sense of urgency to meet deadlines.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Previous leadership experience (preferred).
- Basic computer skills (preferred).
- Bilingual (English and Spanish) (preferred).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for 12-hour periods and bend/twist at the waist and knees.
- Frequently lift and pull items weighing 20–25 pounds; occasionally lift up to 60 pounds.
