About the role
This position is responsible for performing and maintaining the daily activities associated with the safe operation of fiber cutting/packaging lines in accordance with established standard work procedures.
Responsibilities
- Complete required documentation and maintain quality by inspecting, grading, and packing all products produced on assigned lines in accordance with product quality and packaging specifications.
- Perform authorized minor equipment adjustments on all production line equipment to meet safety, quality, and production standards with limited assistance.
- Perform job duties in a safe and conscientious manner, following all JSA procedures and plant policies.
- Communicate with off-going Cutting Line Operator.
- Review Process Specification for processing accuracy.
- Operate cutting equipment as directed, making minor adjustments as needed.
- Complete shift documentation (paperwork/computer input) for safety, quality, and productivity as directed.
- Perform quality checks as directed.
- Enter data into SAP to make pallet tickets; print tickets only as needed. Do not print tickets ahead of time.
- Place tickets on center of each side of the pallets with uniform placement.
- Program printers and change ribbon as needed; ensure print legibility.
- Change paper as needed, using caution around pinch points and locking the paper roll down each time.
- Change PVOH rolls as needed, using caution.
- Enter notifications for all safety issues, downtime, and maintenance issues as needed.
- Perform in a cross-functional capacity by training and qualifying on all packaging lines to support operational flexibility and production requirements.
- Perform TPM activities as required.
- Perform product changes as needed, always following product change procedures without exception.
- Understand plant processes and how activities on the production floor affect financial performance.
- Actively participate on quality improvement projects/teams.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Perform other job duties assigned by leadership.
- Monitor inventory levels of all materials consumed on the production line and request replenishment in a timely manner to avoid disrupting production flow.
- Verify correctness of supplies received.
- Complete and maintain all required OSHA training and adhere to established safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Have full authority and responsibility to shut down any piece of equipment deemed unsafe; failure to do so violates plant safety rules.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED required.
- Working knowledge of SAP preferred.
- Proficiency in utilizing HMI (Human-Machine Interface) computer systems.
- Ability to communicate well with others and work effectively within a team environment.
