Cutter/Sorter Operator

About the Role

The Cutter/Sorter Operator operates, cleans, and performs minor maintenance on cutter systems, PEF, and product sizing equipment under regular supervision, ensuring smooth operation from the weigh belt through to the product graders. Additionally, the role oversees the clean and efficient use of defect removal equipment to meet quality standards for product defects.

Responsibilities

• Operate, monitor, and maintain sizing, cutting, sorting, and PEF equipment for optimal product uniformity and efficient use of raw materials.
• Ensure cleanliness and proper upkeep of all related equipment and surrounding work areas; perform minor maintenance and preventative checks.
• Adjust load levels and equipment settings as needed, coordinate with coworkers during changeovers, and assist in startup operations.
• Conduct quality control by collecting samples, performing machine diagnostics, monitoring defect levels, referencing QA standards, and completing all required reports and records accurately.
• Adhere to job safety protocols, promptly notify personnel of line issues, and participate in quality improvement processes as directed by supervision.
• Work in a manufacturing environment with potential exposure to loud noises, strong odors, temperature fluctuations, moving machinery, wet or humid conditions, hazardous chemicals, high or confined areas, extreme temperatures, and vibration throughout various facility areas.
• Regularly engage in prolonged standing, walking, communicating, and sensory tasks; frequently handle objects, climb, balance, and perform physical movements such as stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.
• Use close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus as required.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2+ years of relevant machine operating experience required, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Ability to obtain forklift certification required.
