Sorter Operator

About the role

AMP is hiring a Sorter Operator in Portsmouth, Virginia. This role involves segregating various materials including cardboard, paper, plastic, and aluminum in a fast-paced environment. Key responsibilities include keeping the plant clean, operating in a high-speed environment, lifting up to 45 pounds, and collaborating with team members to train new employees.

Responsibilities

• Segregate various materials including cardboard, paper, plastic, and aluminum in a fast-paced environment.
• Keep the plant and areas clean of debris.
• Clean equipment as needed.
• Maintain a reliable attendance record.
• Collaborate with team members to provide comprehensive training for new employees, ensuring they are well-equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Excellent teamwork skills

• Ability to stand for eight or more hours with the occasional need to bend or squat
• Ability to operate in a high speed and fast-paced environment
• Ability to lift 45 pounds repeatedly
• Able to follow instructions as directed by the supervisor
