This is a full-time, seasonal position with no work available during the summer months, and includes a possibility of continued employment in future seasons.
Responsibilities
- Meets with the designer to discuss the rendering, including design details, fabrics, and potential challenges (e.g., quick changes, layering).
- Asks clarifying questions about garment specifics such as closures, linings, and design detail widths.
- Studies the rendering to determine the best pattern-making method and whether a mock-up (muslin) is needed for testing fit.
- Develops the pattern, cuts a muslin, and arranges a fitting with the actor to refine the design under the designer’s supervision.
- Corrects the pattern based on muslin fittings, cuts the final fabric, and oversees additional fittings (up to three) until the garment is complete.
- Stitches costumes once all drafting and cutting for a production is finished.
- Assists with costume repairs noted during the production.
- Supports designers during fittings for ready-to-wear clothing items.
- Helps maintain a tidy shop and organizes supplies.

Requirements
- Two years of sewing in a costume shop or equivalent experience (one year of education may substitute for two years of work experience).
- Two additional years of pattern drafting and draping experience.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to work in a detail- and deadline-oriented environment.
- Commitment to service excellence.
- Demonstrated potential to perform the essential functions of the job.
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Pay
$18.00–$21.00 per hour.
