About the role

Operates a hand knife to cut a variety of covers used in the production of sofas, chairs, loveseats, or ottomans. Uses patterns to determine precisely how to cut cover for production.

Responsibilities

• Obtain daily work schedule from Cutting Supervisor, directing employees on daily work activities and order of cuts.
• Locate the pattern needed for each cut as specified by the work schedule.
• Perform cutting duties with one cutting partner on the cutting table.
• Obtain cover needed for the cut and place it on a rack on the cutting table.
• Spread cover across the cutting table, ensuring the amount of spread (ply) matches the quantity on the schedule.
• Place pattern on top of the spread cover and dust with blue chalk to mark lines for cutting.
• Cut fabric according to the width of the perforated pattern.
• Operate a tape measure to ensure the cover is the appropriate width; red-tag and return incorrect widths to the cover department.
• Inspect for shade defects, pattern repeat, and overall fabric quality; red-tag defective fabric.
• Leave cut cover on the table for bundlers to pick up and supply to the appropriate area.
• Perform other duties as required by the supervisor.

Requirements

• Knowledge of an assembly line-type environment.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must submit to a drug test and background investigation.
• Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.

Pay

$19.70 - $21.20 per hour.
