About the role

This position involves assisting on compliance projects for major clients by verifying the Free Trade Agreement (FTA) status of goods. Key responsibilities include identifying and classifying workload, supporting trade program projects, audits, and verification programs, maintaining database integrity, creating reports, and managing escalated client matters. The role also involves liaising with business partners on customs compliance issues, providing effective and diplomatic customer service, and fostering a positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Identify and classify workload needed for FTA qualification.
• Affiliate or lead trade program projects, audits, and verification programs.
• Complete FTA determinations and reviews.
• Review, maintain, and reinforce database integrity using various client and provided software.
• Create reports and assist with drafting compliance processes and related work instructions.
• Manage escalated client matters and support brokers and clients with FTA documentation.
• Liaison with significant business partners on customs compliance issues.
• Showcase skills with Microsoft Office tools, including Excel and Access.
• Identify potential challenges and risks, solve problems efficiently, or seek solutions with leaders.
• Foster a fast-paced culture by leading by example in terms of accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
• Effectively prioritize and manage multiple tasks to meet key performance indicators (KPIs) and deadlines.
• Provide high-quality customer service by leading and mentoring the team, fostering a positive and productive work environment, and resolving escalated issues as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Supply Chain Management, Transportation, or International Business, or a related field.
• US Customs broker’s license and/or CCS designation preferred but not required.
• Minimum 10 years of qualification experience with expert knowledge of FTA Rules of Origin and RVC calculations.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel and Access.
• Professional and mature demeanor.
• Good research and analytical skills with strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Valid passport and ability/desire to travel to other office locations in CAD, USA, or MEX if required.
