Customer Service Warehouse & Yard

About the role

This is a physically active indoor/outdoor position where you will provide a high level of service to customers. You will answer questions, identify products, and direct customers to lumber and building materials in the lumber yard and warehouse. You will also verify load tickets for accuracy, cut lumber to requested sizes, assist in loading materials, and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the lumber yard and warehouse.

Responsibilities

• Assist contractor and other customers in finding products, loading/unloading vehicles, and verifying load tickets for accuracy.
• Maintain the yard and warehouse by keeping it clean and organized at all times.
• Flat stack lumber units and wrap units to protect wood from sun and rain.
• Follow written and verbal procedures with excellent communication.
• Work safely and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while complying with all safety standards and Standard Operating Procedures.
• Operate forklifts, woodworking machines, saws, and tools safely and efficiently.
• Perform accurate measurements and cutting using a tape measure.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Warehouse or Yard Manager.

Requirements

• Ability to safely and efficiently operate a forklift.
• Training or experience operating woodworking machines, saws, and tools.
• Accuracy in measuring with a tape measure and cutting lumber.
• Product knowledge of lumber and building materials.
• Good basic math skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal procedures.
• Ability to comply with all safety standards.
• Clean driving record if required to drive a company truck.
