Responsibilities
- Handle patient scheduling, appointments, and multi-phone line management
- Gather new patient data and keep track of all patient referrals
- Disseminate information to patients and act as a go-between for patients and physicians
- Send and log all reports sent to doctors
- Collect all payments and verify insurance
- Collect/open mail and distribute to proper areas/people
- Send benefits paperwork to billing companies
- Handle all scheduling and ensuing communication
- Answer phones, act as a patient liaison, and address questions from potential or current patients
- Coordinate evaluations, re-evaluations, appointment reminders, and cancellations
- Collect new patient intake information and track all clinic referrals
- Fax reports to physicians and keep a log of incoming reports
- Verify insurance, track insurance-covered visits, and take copayments
- Check mail and track Explanation of Benefits sent from mail and fax to billing company
- Communicate with the office manager and clinicians about scheduling and patient arrival
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in a customer service role
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED certificate)
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication skills, detail-oriented, and empathetic
- Positive attitude, strong work ethic, integrity, and compassion for patients
