Responsibilities
- Work in conjunction with other departments to resolve customer disputes and demonstrate proficiency in proprietary operational systems.
- Interview customers and record information into computer systems for service requests, including installation, discontinuance, or changes in service.
- Fill out contract forms, determine charges for services, collect deposits, prepare change-of-address records, and issue discontinuance orders.
- Demonstrate effective use of software applications, including MS Word and Excel.
- Deliver services to customers in a manner that promotes goodwill.
- Interact with customers and Waste Connections employees to determine service requirements and resolve problems or complaints courteously.
- Work in a fast-paced, cooperative, high-call-volume environment with detailed expectations (average 35-45 calls per shift).
- Solicit sales of new or additional services.
- Assist in other areas as needed.
Requirements
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and communicate in English.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- 2 years of customer service experience in a high-call-volume atmosphere.
- Proficient experience with MS Word, Excel, and email preferred.
- Typing and 10-key skills required.
- Excellent organization and communication skills.
- Ability to analyze and solve problems, gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.
- Willingness and ability to work remotely during temporary COVID-19 protocols, with access to high-speed internet in your remote workspace.
Working Conditions
- Work environment is in a call center office setting—clean, ventilated, and well-lit.
- Own workstation or cubicle equipped with a telephone, headset, and computer.
- Call areas can be noisy, with work that may be repetitious and stressful, requiring excellent service with little time between calls.
- All calls are recorded for quality assurance, and some calls are evaluated to ensure high standards.
- Long periods spent sitting, typing, or looking at a computer screen are common.
Pay
Starting rate of $21.50/hour. Washington State pay range is $21.50–$25.00/hour.
