Long-term contract position in Baltimore, Maryland supporting transportation coordination and dispatch operations.

About the role

Organize daily pickup and delivery activity, communicate with drivers and service teams, and ensure timely, accurate service for personnel, materials, and equipment. The ideal candidate is service-oriented, detail-focused, and comfortable managing records, schedules, and radio communication in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily transportation activity by arranging pickup and delivery schedules for personnel, equipment, and materials.
  • Develop practical route plans and timing schedules to help ensure efficient and timely service coverage.
  • Stay in regular contact with drivers and supervisors to track service progress and respond to delays or changes.
  • Maintain organized dispatch logs, service documentation, and recurring operational reports with a high degree of accuracy.
  • Handle service concerns from internal teams and the public with professionalism, follow-through, and strong customer care.
  • Support oversight of third-party transportation providers when assigned, helping confirm service expectations are met.
  • Assist with vehicle-related documentation and recordkeeping to support compliance and operational readiness.
  • Operate vehicles when needed during emergency situations or periods of limited staffing.
  • Perform additional transportation support and customer service duties as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in dispatching, transportation support, vehicle operations, or a related customer service environment is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Baltimore, Maryland street locations and the ability to navigate efficiently.
  • Ability to read maps, organize routes, and build effective delivery or pickup schedules.
  • Proficiency with two-way radios, communication equipment, and standard office software such as Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to provide clear and concise updates.
  • Ability to maintain accurate files, logs, indexing systems, and electronic records.
  • Valid Maryland Class C Noncommercial Driver’s License, or an acceptable equivalent, may be required for some assignments.
