About the role
Mechanics Bank is seeking a Customer Service Representative to join our dynamic team. We prioritize building strong, lasting relationships with our clients and colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Performs routine teller transactions and interacts directly with clients.
- Verifies and processes customer transactions, including deposits, withdrawals, check cashing, payments, transfers, and mail transactions.
- Assists customers with account reconciliation, statement copies, check orders, account closures, address changes, stop payments, and safe deposit box entrances.
- Provides exemplary customer service both in person and over the phone, identifying additional customer needs and making appropriate product referrals.
- Manages cash supplies, balances cash at the end of each shift, reviews transactions for red flags, and adheres to cash handling policies and procedures.
- Completes various reports and forms to ensure compliance with Bank policies and procedures, Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering requirements, and regulatory compliance programs.
- Assists with branch audits and completes required compliance tasks.
- Collaborates with Branch Management and relevant departments to resolve customer issues.
- Participates in administrative tasks and follows established security procedures during branch opening and closing.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in a banking environment with basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services.
- At least 1 year of customer service and cash handling experience in a customer-facing role.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and strong customer service abilities.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team.
- Basic knowledge of bank deposit products and services.
- Ability to understand and make appropriate referrals regarding customer loan requests and additional services.
- Knowledge of applicable Bank policies and procedures.

- ADA Requirements: The physical demands include sitting, standing, walking, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. The work environment is usually moderate in noise level.

Pay and Schedule
The pay range for this position is $20.00-$25.00 hourly, and travel is required 0-10%.
