Responsibilities

  • Operate all store equipment.
  • Stock ingredients from delivery area to storage, work area, and walk-in cooler.
  • Prepare product (e.g., pizza, dough, toppings).
  • Receive and process telephone orders.
  • Take inventory and complete associated paperwork.
  • Clean equipment and facility approximately daily.

Requirements

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • Ability to comprehend and give correct written instructions.
  • Verbal, writing, and telephone skills to take and process orders.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide accurately and quickly (may use calculator).
  • Must be able to make correct monetary change.
  • Motor coordination between eyes and hands/fingers to rapidly and accurately make precise movements with speed.
  • Ability to enter orders using a computer keyboard or touch screen.

Work Conditions

  • Exposure to:
    • Varying and sometimes adverse weather conditions when removing trash or performing other outside tasks.
    • In-store temperatures ranging from 36°F in the cooler to 90°F and above in some work areas, with sudden temperature changes.
    • Fumes from food odors and exposure to cornmeal dust.
    • Cramped quarters, including the walk-in cooler.
    • Hot surfaces/tools from ovens up to 500°F or higher.
    • Sharp edges and moving mechanical parts.
  • Sensory Requirements:
    • Talking and hearing on the telephone.
    • Near and mid-range vision for most in-store tasks.
    • Depth perception.
    • Ability to differentiate between hot and cold surfaces.
  • Temperament:
    • Ability to direct activities, perform repetitive tasks, work alone and with others, and work under stress.
    • Ability to meet strict quality control standards, deal with people, analyze and compile data, and make judgments and decisions.

Physical Requirements

  • Standing: Most tasks are performed from a standing position on ceramic tile or linoleum surfaces. Work surfaces range from 36" to 48" in height.
  • Walking: Short distances for short durations.
  • Sitting: Paperwork is completed in an office at a desk or table.
  • Lifting:
    • Bulk product deliveries (twice a week or more) include cases weighing up to 50 pounds with dimensions up to 3' x 1.5'. Cases are lifted from the floor and stacked onto shelves up to 72" high.
    • Large cans (3 lbs, 7 oz) are carried from workstation to storage shelves.
    • Pizza sauce (30 lbs) is occasionally carried from storage to the front of the store.
    • Trays of pizza dough (12 lbs per tray) are carried three at a time over short distances.
  • Pushing/Pulling: Trays on dollies (24"-30" tall) require up to 7.5 pounds of force to push or pull.
  • Climbing: Infrequent use of stairs or ladders to change prices, wash walls, or perform maintenance.
  • Stooping/Bending:
    • Forward bending at the waist is required at the pizza assembly station (30-45 seconds at a time, repeated continuously).
    • Bending is also required at the front counter and when stocking ingredients.
  • Crouching/Squatting: Occasionally performed to stock shelves or clean low areas.
  • Reaching: Continuously performed in all directions (up, down, forward) for tasks such as:
    • Turning oven controls on/off.
    • Changing prices on signs.
    • Lifting/lowering objects to/from shelves.
    • Scooping cornmeal or washing dishes.
    • Obtaining topping ingredients or cleaning work surfaces.
    • Answering phones.
  • Hand Tasks:
    • Eye-hand coordination is essential for continuous use of hands throughout the day.
    • Frequent and forceful use of forearms and wrists for shaping pizza dough.
    • Manipulation of pizza peel, rolling cutter, and cardboard pizza boxes (requiring pinching).
    • Grasping cans, phones, pizza cutters, pizza peels, and pizza boxes.
  • Machines, Tools, Equipment: May include pencils/pens, computers, telephones, calculators, TDD equipment, pizza cutters, and pizza peels.
