About the role
As a Specimen Problem Resolution Specialist, you will act as a liaison between the lab, clients, and patients. You’ll resolve internal and external customer requests via calls, instant messenger, and email communications while maintaining a respectful and professional manner. This role involves working in multiple databases to research complex issues, providing customer education, and ensuring accurate specimen handling.
Responsibilities
- Communicate with customers in a respectful and professional manner
- Work in multiple databases to research complex issues and questions
- Provide customer education and information as needed
- Review test forms for accuracy and report any discrepancies
- Prepare and triage specimens for analysis
- Accurately identify and label specimens
- Pack and ship specimens as necessary
- Prepare and store excess specimen samples
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
- Familiarity with laboratory operations, policies, and procedures
- Comfortable handling biological specimens
- Ability to accurately identify specimens
- Strong data entry and organizational skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word; willingness to learn new applications
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
- Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
Preferred Qualifications
- Current or prior Labcorp experience
- Associate’s degree
- 2+ years of experience in the healthcare industry (e.g., physician’s office, clinic, or hospital)
- 2+ years of experience in customer service
Schedule
Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM

Employees scheduled to work less than 20 hours per week, casual, intern, or temporary employees are eligible only for the 401(k) Plan. Employees on a 7-on/7-off schedule receive all benefits except PTO or FTO.
