About the role

Since 1970, Salud has been committed to providing a Medical Home to patients, where medical, dental, behavioral health services, and clinical pharmacists work together and coordinate efforts in a team-based system of care. We strive to improve the quality of our patient's lives who would otherwise have limited access to health care. We serve all individuals regardless of their insurance status or ability to pay.

Responsibilities

  • Create a positive first impression and exhibit excellent customer service
  • Promote a pleasant experience for Salud patients
  • Approach tasks in a team-based care fashion that supports patients and their families in self-management, self-efficacy, and behavior change
  • Serve as a greeter, front desk receptionist, and/or cashier
  • Welcome patients, check them in for all appointment types, and check them out at the end of an appointment
  • Make reminder calls, answer questions, manage patient complaints, and so much more to ensure a positive experience for all of our patients

Requirements

  • Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or GED is required
  • Experience: One year of front desk/customer service experience in a medical setting preferred
  • Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Bilingual English/Spanish preferred, must work well with the other patient care team members, must communicate clearly and appropriately with patients, must demonstrate professionalism and a positive attitude, must be proficient in elementary math, must learn and implement complex policies and procedures, must have reading comprehension and writing skills, must be proficient in keyboarding and word processing, must have one year of clerical office experience, must be familiar with medical/dental terminology, must show sensitivity to the low-income and ethnic minority community, must be willing to become proficient in the use of telephone, fax, copier, email, and electronic health record-keeping, must be able to read, understand, and follow oral and written instructions, must be able to work evening or weekend hours, must be able to work under stress, must exhibit excellent customer service, must be able to explain and summarize comprehensive concepts in a way that the general population can understand, must be able to use computer systems applications (MS Office, PowerPoint, Chrome, etc.)

Pay

  • Starting Wage - $19.50 to $22.50 per hour

Schedule

  • Monday to Friday – 8 am to 5 pm
