Custom Project Engineer
Job Summary
The Project Engineer is an integral part of our Sales Team. In this role you will validate custom leads, manage projects, recognize opportunities to close profitable orders, supply proactive delivery schedules, and provide top notch quality customer support. This role works cross departmentally to service internal and external quote requests.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
- Manage quotations in assigned territories and/or channels for order status and validity.
- Create custom quotations while managing customer expectations and working closely with R&D Teams to minimize cost/lead time impact.
- Prepare quotes of materials requested by Inside Sales, outside sales reps and customers including air freight quotes.
- Create CAD drawings for component pricing requests.
- Validate and capture project information for custom leads by working with the sales and end customer.
- Interpret customer requirements and offer solutions that maximize profitability and add value for the customer.
- Identify possible alternates for discontinued items as well as flag any potential conflicts in material.
- Cook up bid strategy with Inside Sales, TSMs and outside Sales Representatives.
- Work across departmentally to answer elevated inquires and resolve rep or customer issues concerning project lead times, pricing, and competition in a timely manner.
- Follow up on outstanding quotations to secure orders.
- Identify Quote Reviews that require a job name or split commission and resolve accordingly.
- Perform root cause analysis of complications on projects or company procedures and suggest short and long-term resolution with implementation.
- Perform monthly reporting representing custom quote functions.
- Provide cross-departmental trainings to ensure knowledge and continuity of the quotation process.
- Complete crossovers and layouts on fixture schedules.
- Provide custom project support and design direction for projects based on the company’s manufacturing capabilities.
Requirements
- A professional working level of Mandarin Chinese.
- An undergraduate degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering preferred.
- Excellent communication both verbally and in writing, strong time management, project management, reporting, and organizational skills.
- An attention to detail in composing materials, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines.
- The ability to work in a fast-paced environment with the demonstrated ability to juggle multiple competing tasks/demands and get results.
- The ability to learn new skills and facilitate training.
- The ability to solve problems and make independent decisions.
- The ability to manage relationships with a focus on long-term partnerships.
- The ability to be a team player capable of coordinating and communicating with multiple departments.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Teams).
- Knowledge of SAP, Sugar CRM, ZenDesk, Solidworks, Adobe Creative Suite or Keyshot is a plus.
- Basic electrical knowledge with knowledge of manufacturing/industrial design is a plus.
