Custom Field Operator - GRAINCO FS - Lostant, IL

About the role

Under the direction of the Location Manager, this role involves custom application of fertilizers, crop protection products, and agricultural lime, field inspections, and maintenance of plant and mobile equipment.

Responsibilities

• Blend products according to recommended rates and procedures.
• Apply crop production inputs to fields and growing crops following pesticide labels and recommended rates.
• Record application data according to regulations and standards; maintain inventory control and submit daily application records.
• Ensure all product is accounted for with an invoice or delivery ticket.
• Inspect fields for weeds, insects, or disease; record and report findings.
• Collect samples of unidentifiable weeds, insects, or diseased plants for identification by the Crop Specialist.
• Record soil sample information for proper identification and analysis.
• Set up, maintain, and repair material handling, blending, storage, transport, and application equipment.
• Maintain company equipment according to standards and adhere to the member cooperative Uniform Policy.
• May serve on the location Safety Committee and follow environmental health and safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Previous applicator or related experience and/or training.
• Proven professional communication and customer service skills.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rates, ratios, percentages, and interpreting bar graphs).
• Ability to work independently and in a team-oriented environment.
• Basic computer skills relevant to custom application.
• Must have or be able to obtain a CDL and commercial applicator’s license.
• Ability to perform pre- and post-trip inspections, minor equipment maintenance and repair, and lift 70 lbs.

Pay

$19–$22 per hour

Actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. Certain roles may be eligible for bonuses, incentives, and commissions.
