Custodian (Virginia Beach - Evening)

About the role

Tidewater Community College has served South Hampton Roads – both students and employers – for 50 years. It has grown from 1 campus into a regional educational and economic force. TCC is the largest provider of higher education and workforce services in Hampton Roads, enrolling nearly 28,000 students in 2019-20. The college had 3,203 graduates in 2019-2020, 40 percent of whom pursued degrees that would let them transfer to 4-year institutions. Of South Hampton Roads residents enrolled in higher education 36% enrolled at TCC.

Responsibilities

• Provides a full range of custodial/ housekeeping services for college facilities to include, but not limited to, trash removal, vacuuming, mopping, dusting, sweeping, floor stripping and waxing, carpet cleaning, window cleaning, black/white-board cleaning, etc.
• Provides room set-up/take-down assistance and as assigned.
• Performs other cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Maintain and demonstrate good attendance habits.

Requirements

• Working knowledge of the principles and practices of janitorial, custodial, and housekeeping services, and sanitizing techniques.
• Knowledge of custodial operations and industry standards.
• Ability to climb ladders without assistance.
• Ability to lift objects not more than 50 lbs.
• Experience in a janitorial, custodial, or housekeeping program/environment.

Qualifications

• Preferred experience within a multi-building housekeeping operation.
• Operation of a State Vehicle.

Pay

$29,760 to $34,900, commensurate with experience.

Schedule

4:00 PM – 12:30 AM, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends or 2:30 PM – 11 PM, Monday to Friday with rotating weekends.
