About the role

Emergency hire for a temporary custodian position lasting at most 90 days with an option to extend for up to 180 days. Under the direction of the Lead Custodian and the general supervision of area managers, the incumbent performs cleaning maintenance assignments in various University buildings and external spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning maintenance assignments in various University buildings and external spaces under the direction of the Lead Custodian and area managers.
  • Operate and care for custodial equipment and supplies applicable to the position.
  • Use custodial systems such as those used to track work orders and two-way radios for communication.
  • Observe safety requirements and safe work practices and methods as required.
  • Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and write at a level appropriate to the duties of the position.
  • Follow verbal and written instructions to ensure safety.
  • Ability to move up to 50 pounds of equipment/supplies in a safe manner.
  • Valid California driver's license and maintenance of a good driving record.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of common custodial procedures and methods.
  • Knowledge of safe cleaning practices.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service.
  • Good interpersonal skills to maintain effective working relationships.
  • Commitment to maintaining a welcoming and inclusive work environment with diverse colleagues and constituents including faculty, students, staff, and members of the community.

$3,461.00 - $4,752.00 per month

Schedule

  • Sunday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM;
  • Monday–Thursday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM;
  • Tuesday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM;
  • Saturday, 1:00 PM – 9:30 PM;
  • Monday–Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:30 AM;

Facilities Management is the steward for the University buildings, physical infrastructure, grounds, and landscape. We perform maintenance and renovation of facilities; plan and manage new construction; support University initiatives though our commitment to building a welcoming campus which covers over 50 buildings on 616 acres; and by creating a dynamic physical environment for students, faculty, staff, and the community.
