Custodian - Nacogdoches

About the Role

This position is in the Nacogdoches Maintenance Department and reports to the 1st shift Maintenance Supervisor. The primary responsibility is the cleaning and maintenance of all rest rooms, break rooms, designated offices, hallways, and employee entrances in the three buildings on site.

Responsibilities

• Service, clean, and supply rest rooms
• Gather and empty trash
• Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
• Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to prevent damage to floors and fixtures
• Mix water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions according to specifications
• Strip, seal, finish, and polish floors
• Manage and requisition supplies or equipment needed for cleaning and maintenance duties
• Perform any other assigned duties as specified by supervisor

Requirements

• 1 year of custodial experience preferred
• High School Diploma preferred
• Customer focus and teamwork/collaboration skills
• Understanding of the proper use of cleaning materials and power equipment
• Proper disposal of waste by environmental and safety standards
• Strong communication and time management skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision, be a self-starter, and detail-oriented
• Complete required paperwork involving checklists and maintaining records of supplies
• A strong focus on working safely and utilizing 6S principles

Physical Demands / Environmental Factors

• Ability to continuously stand or walk
• Ability to bend, squat, and lift
• Ability to climb stairs occasionally
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
• Ability to move rolling product carts over 150 pounds occasionally
• Work in a manufacturing environment with minimal climate control and hot conditions
