About the role
Reporting to the Custodial Manager, the Custodian is responsible for performing all custodial duties as required to provide clean and sanitary spaces on the University of Washington Seattle Campus. This is a full-time position with hours of Monday through Friday, 5:00 am – 1:30 pm.
Responsibilities
- Clean and sanitize restrooms/shower rooms and fixtures in accordance with established procedures and standards; refill restroom dispensers (20%)
- Clean chalkboards and erasers; dust and wipe furniture; sweep, mop or vacuum floors; empty wastebaskets, trash, and recycle containers (20%)
- Use and maintain assigned power equipment and hand tools such as vacuum, broom, mop, squeegee, for the cleaning and general maintenance of floors, walls, carpets, and furniture (10%)
- Lock and unlock buildings; secure building when facilities are not in use by checking for unlocked doors and windows; report unauthorized occupants (5%)
- Follow written and/or verbal instructions regarding the use of chemicals, supplies and equipment; comply with safety policies and procedures (5%)
- Report need for repair and/or maintenance (5%)
- Wash interior or easily accessible exterior windows (5%)
- Perform cleaning and related activities in areas within a reasonable distance from buildings using hand-operated tools or small power equipment to remove snow or debris, or sweeping sidewalks or stairs (5%)
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies and tools on an incidental basis (5%)
- Operate high-pressure washer (5%)
- Strip, clean, buff and apply finish to floors; use high speed floor buffers/polishers; vacuum and clean carpets (15%)
- Perform related duties as required. This position performs essential services and may be required to work during any period of declared suspended operation.

Pay
Pay Range Minimum: $45,144.00 annual
Pay Range Maximum: $50,736.00 annual
