A Day in the Life

• Assists with opening the building to start the school day, e.g., unlocking doors, raising the flag, picking up trash, turning on lights, etc.
• Maintains cleanliness by washing windows, picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and drinking fountains, and mopping floors when necessary.
• Repairs building and equipment as assigned to ensure they are operational for students and staff.
• Sets up and replaces equipment for daily activities like lunch and special events.
• Performs crossing guard duties to ensure student, parent, and staff safety when crossing the street.
• Receives and distributes deliveries and equipment/supplies/furniture in their correct locations.
• Closes the building to ensure security and minimize utility costs.
• Maintains confidentiality according to district, state, and federal laws.
• Assists with special projects such as putting together new furniture, painting walls, completing repairs, and doing major repairs during summer months and out-of-school times.
• Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies for relocating classrooms.
• Supervises students, as needed, to ensure their safety.

Profile of a Successful Candidate

• Effective communication skills.
• Knowledge of standard cleaning chemicals is helpful.
• A high school diploma.
• Able to perform physical tasks that require 90% walking and 10% standing.
• Regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as per Board of Education policies and regulations.
• Willingness to work 40 hours per week or as determined by the district.

Must Have

• Cleared background check.
• Current TB skin test.
