A Day in the Life
- Assists with opening the building to start the school day, e.g., unlocking doors, raising the flag, picking up trash, turning on lights, etc.
- Maintains cleanliness by washing windows, picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms and drinking fountains, and mopping floors when necessary.
- Repairs building and equipment as assigned to ensure they are operational for students and staff.
- Sets up and replaces equipment for daily activities like lunch and special events.
- Performs crossing guard duties to ensure student, parent, and staff safety when crossing the street.
- Receives and distributes deliveries and equipment/supplies/furniture in their correct locations.
- Closes the building to ensure security and minimize utility costs.
- Maintains confidentiality according to district, state, and federal laws.
- Assists with special projects such as putting together new furniture, painting walls, completing repairs, and doing major repairs during summer months and out-of-school times.
- Moves furniture, equipment, and supplies for relocating classrooms.
- Supervises students, as needed, to ensure their safety.
Profile of a Successful Candidate
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of standard cleaning chemicals is helpful.
- A high school diploma.
- Able to perform physical tasks that require 90% walking and 10% standing.
- Regular and acceptable attendance/punctuality as per Board of Education policies and regulations.
- Willingness to work 40 hours per week or as determined by the district.
Must Have
- Cleared background check.
- Current TB skin test.
