Custodian IV

About the role

Buildings and General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Custodian IV at the Waterbury State Office Complex. As a Custodian IV, you will be a lead and responsible for all aspects of cleaning around the Waterbury State Office Complex and training new employees as needed. You will also be responsible for ordering supplies for staff with the guidance of the Custodial Supervisor. You could be working alone or as a team on cleaning projects with a diverse group.

Schedule

This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 10:00am to 6:30pm.

• Successful completion of a background check

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed during an assigned shift at one or more state owned or leased buildings. Cleaning work often involves addressing bloodborne pathogens and other potentially infectious material. Incumbents must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather. Good physical condition and ability to climb ladders and lift weights of up to 50-lbs. is necessary. Overtime and evening work may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Three (3) years or more of building custodial work that included floor maintenance tasks such as stripping and waxing floors and carpet extraction INCLUDING at least (1) year as a lead worker or supervisor.
• OR Three (3) years as a BGS Custodian II.

Special Requirements

• Some positions in this class require a valid driver's license and own transportation for travel between work locations.
• Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position.
