About the Role
The Custodian at Grow Academy is responsible for scheduling, coordinating, and performing routine and ongoing custodial maintenance of the Academy and its immediately surrounding property. This includes using and maintaining power equipment, hand tools, and various cleaning materials to ensure the cleanliness and general maintenance of floors, walls, windows, bathrooms, kitchens, carpets, furniture, and exterior walkways.
Responsibilities
- Clean and mop assigned areas daily
- Clean, mop, and stock restrooms as needed
- Dust horizontal surfaces 2-3 times per week
- Empty all outdoor trash containers daily
- Assist with the setup of facilities for meetings and events
- Move furniture, equipment, supplies, and tools as needed
- Lock and unlock assigned buildings; secure buildings when not in use, checking for unlocked doors and windows; turn off lights
- Keep grounds free from trash and litter
- Report needed repairs to supervisor
- Know and follow all safety rules and proper procedures associated with the job
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to work well on a variety of tasks under general supervision
- Knowledge of basic cleaning and housekeeping methods and processes
- Ability to follow instructions on the use of chemicals and supplies
- Strong oral communication skills; bilingual ability preferred
Experience
Custodial/maintenance experience in a commercial/school setting is a plus.

- Constantly required to remain in a stationary standing position, move about the work environment, and use hands and arms to handle, reach, and operate cleaning equipment
- Constantly required to push, move, lift, or carry up to 10 pounds; occasionally required to push, move, lift, or carry up to 50 pounds
- Requires close, distance, and peripheral vision to operate equipment and perceive information
- Requires the ability to perceive and respond to auditory information in the work environment
- Work is typically performed outdoors and within school buildings, involving noise and exposure to the elements
