Responsibilities
- Assists with site snow removal to ensure access and safety for students, staff, and visitors.
- Cleans assigned facilities and grounds (e.g., classrooms, offices, gym, restrooms, multipurpose rooms, pools, grounds) to maintain a sanitary, safe, and attractive environment.
- Conducts and participates in training and drills (e.g., fire, intruder, earthquake, health and safety) to ensure emergency procedures are effective and alarm systems operational.
- Consults with administrative personnel (e.g., principal, assistant principal) to plan, prioritize, and schedule custodial activities and achieve site maintenance objectives.
- Delivers supplies, mail, packages, and furniture to distribute materials to appropriate parties within the site.
- Distributes custodial supplies and equipment (e.g., cleaning solutions, paper products, vacuums, mops) to custodial staff or storage locations.
- Informs students and site personnel about activities, safety issues, and proper maintenance of facilities or equipment.
- Inspects facilities and components (e.g., fire suppression equipment, boilers, grounds) to ensure safe operations, identify necessary repairs, and maintain an attractive and clean environment.
- Maintains supplies and equipment to ensure availability for proper facility upkeep.
- Manages budgets for cleaning supplies, maintenance, and repair expenses to achieve site safety and upkeep objectives.
- Monitors activities in work areas (e.g., halls, multipurpose rooms, lunch rooms, restrooms, grounds) to prevent injuries and ensure site safety.
- Oversees and schedules assigned personnel (e.g., custodians, lead custodians, sweepers) to ensure safe and efficient site maintenance.
- Oversees facility maintenance activities and assigned custodial personnel to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Participates in personnel decision-making (e.g., hiring, dismissal procedures) to assist administrators with personnel actions.
- Performs routine maintenance on boilers, water heaters, cooling towers, generators, etc. (e.g., changing filters, cleaning) to ensure proper working condition.
- Performs groundskeeping functions (e.g., weeding, mowing, edging, applying herbicides/pesticides, pruning) to maintain safe and attractive grounds.
- Performs minor maintenance on custodial equipment, classroom furniture, and fixtures (e.g., changing vacuum belts/bags, HVAC filters, greasing machinery, installing fixtures) to ensure proper functioning.
- Prepares written materials (e.g., supply requisitions, safety inspections, work orders, inventory records, time sheets) to document activities and inform administration.
- Prepares site for daily operations (e.g., opening gates, raising flags, sweeping walkways) to ensure facilities are operational and hazard-free.
- Replenishes classroom and restroom supplies (e.g., paper products, soap) to ensure adequate quantities for daily use.
- Responds to immediate safety and operational concerns (e.g., facility damage, vandalism, alarms) during and after hours to take appropriate action or notify personnel.
- Secures facilities and grounds (e.g., doors, gates, alarms, lights) to minimize property damage, vandalism, equipment loss, or potential liability.
- Trains assigned personnel to develop professional trade and safety awareness skills in line with district policies.
- Transports tools, equipment, and supplies to ensure availability at job sites.
- Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars to convey or gather information required for job functions.
- Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Requirements
- Age 16 or older.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
Pay
Hourly rate: $25.71 - $28.89 depending on qualifications and experience.
