About the Role

This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive physical plant within the Chandler Unified School District. The role involves directing and monitoring the work of other custodians, performing a wide range of cleaning and maintenance tasks, and ensuring the security and readiness of school facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties relating to cleaning the school site, including sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors.
  • Wash windows, walls, woodwork, and equipment; empty trash receptacles.
  • Direct and monitor the work of custodians and provide ongoing training.
  • Order custodial supplies and provide input for custodian evaluations.
  • Maintain and clean custodial equipment accurately.
  • Perform minor repairs, move furniture and equipment, and replace light bulbs.
  • Monitor and maintain building security, safety systems, equipment, and fire extinguishers.
  • Follow up on sanitation report deviations and report safety/security hazards or needs for major repairs.
  • Secure the facility, ensuring the building is locked/unlocked as required.
  • Handle emergency custodial duties for principals, teachers, and staff.
  • Follow district policies and perform all duties safely and prudently as directed by supervisors.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and write English as pertains to job functions.
  • Progressively responsible custodial experience.
  • Satisfactory criminal background check.
  • Vision and hearing adequate to exercise job responsibilities safely.

Qualifications

  • New Hire Experience: 1% increase for two or more years of full-time like experience, plus an additional 1% per year, not to exceed the maximum hiring range of 5%.
  • New Hire Education: 1% of hourly rate for a college degree in a similar field, combined with work experience credit, not to exceed the maximum hiring range of 5%.

Physical Requirements

  • Heavy work involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger or manual dexterity, repetitive motion, speaking, hearing, and seeing (with correction).
  • Constant standing and walking on various floor surfaces.
  • Ability to use push/pull force of up to 50 pounds and lift items up to 30 pounds; items over 50 pounds require assistance.
  • Occasional climbing of ladders for cleaning or maintenance.
  • Exposure to travel, fumes, odors, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, workspace restrictions, and loud noises.

Pay

Entry base salary of $19.01 per hour, plus a $0.45 per hour lead differential.

Schedule

  • Full-time: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM, 2612H (12-month position), 248 work days, 13 paid holidays.
  • Part-time: 2385PT (calendar details not specified).
