About the Role
This position is responsible for maintaining a safe, clean, and attractive physical plant at a Chandler Unified School District site. The role involves directing and monitoring the work of other custodians, performing cleaning duties, and handling minor maintenance tasks.
Responsibilities
- Perform all duties relating to cleaning the school site, including sweeping, dusting, vacuuming, scrubbing, waxing, and polishing floors
- Wash windows, walls, woodwork, and equipment
- Empty trash receptacles
- Perform minor repairs and move furniture/equipment as needed
- Replace light bulbs and perform minor maintenance
- Direct and monitor the work of custodians, providing ongoing training
- Order custodial supplies and provide input for custodian evaluations
- Maintain and clean custodial equipment
- Monitor and maintain building security, safety systems, equipment, and fire extinguishers
- Follow up on sanitation report deviations and report safety/security hazards
- Secure the facility, ensuring the building is locked/unlocked as required
- Handle emergency custodial duties for principals, teachers, and staff
- Follow district policies and perform duties safely as directed by supervisors
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Ability to read and write English as pertains to job functions
- Progressively responsible custodial experience
- Satisfactory criminal background check
- Adequate vision and hearing to exercise job responsibilities safely
Qualifications
- New Hire Experience: 1% hourly increase for two or more years of full-time like experience (up to 5% maximum hiring range)
- New Hire Education: 1% hourly increase for a college degree in a similar field (combined with work experience credit, up to 5% maximum hiring range)

Physical Requirements
- Heavy work involving stooping, kneeling, crouching, standing, walking, sitting, finger dexterity, and repetitive motion
- Ability to push/pull up to 50 pounds and lift up to 30 pounds (items over 50 pounds require assistance)
- Occasional climbing of ladders for cleaning or maintenance
- Exposure to fumes, odors, chemicals, bloodborne pathogens, workspace restrictions, and loud noises
- Vision and hearing (with correction) sufficient for safe job performance

Pay
Entry base salary: $19.01 per hour, plus a $0.45/hour lead differential.
Performance pay available annually.
Schedule
- Full-time (12-month) position: 248 work days, 13 paid holidays
- Part-time option available
- Shift: 5:00 AM - 1:30 PM
