Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned areas of school facilities in a clean, sanitary, and orderly condition according to the GCPS Custodial Care Program and as instructed by designated supervisory staff.
- Perform assigned cleaning and other custodial care tasks from the GCPS Custodial Care Program schedule in a proficient manner.
- Utilize approved chemicals, supplies, and equipment following GCPS Policies and Procedures for custodial tasks.
- Maintain custodial care tools and equipment in clean, sanitary, and safe working condition per GCPS Custodial Care Program guidelines.
- Open and secure assigned facilities or grounds areas at times instructed by supervisory staff.
- Suggest alternate cleaning practices, products, tools, or equipment for the GCPS Custodial Care Program and assist in evaluations for efficiency or effectiveness.
- Maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with team members, facility staff, and other GCPS employees.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Industrial or commercial cleaning experience.
- Ability and willingness to learn and perform custodial care skills and tasks of the GCPS Custodial Care Program.
- Ability to hear, understand, and follow oral instructions in English.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English at a minimum 6th-grade level (e.g., safety instructions, product labels, training materials, and documents).
- Ability to work effectively as part of an assigned custodial team.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (or equivalent).
- Valid Georgia Class C Driver’s License (preferred).
Physical Demands
The employee is required to:
- Stand, walk, negotiate stairs, and climb ladders.
- Reach with hands and arms, talk, and hear.
- Manipulate tools and small items with hands.
- Lift and transport up to 50 pounds over short distances.
- Operate a motor vehicle in performance of duties.
- Use close vision, distance vision, and color vision.
- Work in a wide range of ambient temperature and humidity conditions, including overhead work and confined spaces.
Potential hazards include working with electricity, heat and noise-producing machinery, elevated equipment, chemicals, and solvents. Reasonable accommodations will be made for individuals with specific disabilities.
