Custodian Crew Chief, Day

About the Role

As the Custodian Crew Chief, you will ensure the cleanliness, safety, and appearance of assigned buildings in accordance with established standards. You will plan and coordinate daily work assignments to cover vacancies, provide continuous delivery of services, and ensure equitable distribution of work. Additionally, you will train, coach, support, and supervise custodians in single or multiple locations, interface with customers to resolve problems and complaints, and maintain an inventory of custodial tools, supplies, and equipment.

You will perform custodial duties to cover vacancies, absences, or special requests and respond to campus crisis situations to enhance public safety and minimize infrastructure damage.

Responsibilities

• Plan and coordinate daily work assignments for custodial staff
• Train, coach, support, and supervise custodians
• Maintain inventory of custodial tools, supplies, and equipment
• Perform custodial duties as needed to cover vacancies or absences
• Respond to campus crisis situations
• Maintain on-site administrative records
• Interface with customers to resolve problems and complaints

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• Valid US or Canadian driver’s license
• 2 years of custodial experience with 4 years of total work experience
• 1 year of supervision experience

Skills

• Must have completed initial entry training or be enrolled in a program within 90 days of hire
• Ability to functionally supervise and train groups of 12–18 people
• Proficient in reading, writing, and speaking English; must communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and customers
• Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematics
• Strong work organization and leadership abilities
• Ability to work well with others
• Working knowledge of powered and non-powered floor care equipment
• Computer experience
• Knowledge of policies and procedures regarding building maintenance and security
• Ability to lift and carry 10 to 25 lbs. frequently and up to 60 lbs. occasionally
• Required to work outdoors 10% of the time in temperatures below 32 degrees

Pay

$19.25 per hour

Monday–Friday, 5:00 am to 1:30 pm
