Custodian - Coomes Recreation Center

About the Role

A Custodian maintains the overall cleanliness of the facility and surrounding grounds, sets up for activities, and works independently with minimal supervision. This is a rotating position that requires evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Sweep, mop, wax floors, and clean stairwells
• Vacuum and clean carpets routinely
• Clean windows and change light bulbs
• Dust and/or polish furniture, window ledges, banisters, ceilings, bleachers, and light fixtures
• Maintain and sanitize restrooms, drinking fountains, and kitchens
• Remove litter and waste paper from inside the building and surrounding grounds
• Set up and take down for meetings and other activities
• Carry equipment, tables, chairs, and other objects up to 50 pounds; climb stairs
• Perform minor repairs to the facility and equipment
• Utilize safety measures and assist in overall safety inside the building and on the grounds
• Replace soap and paper products in dispensers
• Complete required cleaning tasks, verify completion, and communicate facility, inventory, or staff needs to supervisor
• Stock areas with appropriate cleaning supplies
• Maintain maintenance records
• Verify all doors are locked and set the alarm system

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 2 years of experience directly related to custodial duties
• Knowledge of custodial procedures and ability to complete assigned tasks
• Ability to operate janitorial equipment (e.g., buffers, carpet cleaners)
• Ability to use hand tools and power tools (e.g., hammers, screwdrivers, pliers)
