About the role
Auxiliary Business Services is a diverse group of organizations that provide essential services to students, faculty, and staff, supporting the university's academic mission on the Bloomington campus. Central Purchasing and Logistics (CP and L) supports IU Dining and Hospitality with their mission to deliver quality service to students and faculty.
Department Specific Responsibilities
- Receives and assists with early morning deliveries, including Prairie Farms, Breadworks, and SIB, while providing support to vendors as needed.
- Maintains the cleanliness and appearance of the facility by cleaning the breakroom, emptying all trash, dust mopping and machine scrubbing floors (including upstairs offices), vacuuming and sweeping carpets, sweeping stairs, wiping down tables, and cleaning windows.
- Supports daily operations by helping sort products, completing miscellaneous projects as assigned.
- Maintains awareness of building sand facilities, reports abnormalities or security concerns, identifies and reports needed building repairs, and performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
- Assists with snow removal activities as necessary.
General Responsibilities
- Cleans floors, ramps, and stairs by sweeping, wet mopping/dust mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them.
- Cleans, services, and supplies restrooms.
- Gathers and empties recycling and trash.
- Cleans and polishes fixtures.
- Replaces light bulbs.
- Cleans windows, glass partitions, and mirrors using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees.
- Mixes water and detergents or acids in containers to prepare cleaning solutions, according to specifications.
- Dusts furniture, walls, machines, and equipment.
- Steam cleans or shampoos carpets. Strips, seals, finishes, and polishes floors.
- Cleans, replaces, and hangs blinds, drapes, and entrance mats.
- Collects and delivers soiled items.
- Clears sidewalks, drives, and adjacent areas. Shovels snow.
- Locks, unlocks, and secures buildings.
- Maintains awareness of building sand facilities, reports abnormalities or security concerns.
- Identifies and reports needed building repairs.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Education
General knowledge at the high school level. Preferred: Custodial experience.

Qualifications
- Must be available to work during inclement weather (i.e., snow and ice) when weather emergencies dictate that the department is needed to take care of the campus.
