About the role

Essential Functions/Responsibilities
- Perform custodial and related duties for County Buildings as assigned by the supervisor.
- Perform basic repairs and assemblies.
- Coordinate with supervisor by telephone and/or in person to exchange information and receive special work instructions.
- Cooperate with supervisor, co-workers and building occupants in a professional and courteous manner.
- Interact with the public in a cooperative atmosphere showing respect and support.
- Secure offices and buildings as required.
Workplace/Desks
- Empty Trash Cans
- Wipe Door Handles & Door Surface
- Wipe Walls (when needed)
- Wipe Counters (only if cleared)
- Dust (dry or wet depending on need)
- Clean/Polish Furniture (wet or dry depending on need)
- Clean & Shine Glass Windows (If present)
- Vacuum All Carpet
- * Spot Clean Carpet (Only if Necessary)
- * Shampoo Carpets (Only if Necessary, Deep Clean)
Bathrooms
- Empty Trash Containers
- Wipe Entire Sink (top bottom and plumbing)
- Wipe Door Handles
- Wipe Soap Dispensers
- Wipe Handicap Rails
- Wipe Walls
- Scrub & Wipe Toilet(s) & Urinal(s) (top, bottom, inside, outside, and Shine the Plumbing)
- Wipe & Shine the Mirror(s)
- Sweep & Mop ALL Tile
- Re-Stock Paper Towels
- Restock Toilet Paper
- Restock Soap
- Restock Seat Covers
- Empty Female Hygiene Containers
Hallways & General Areas
- Wipe Walls
- Wipe or Vacuum Window Sills (At least once a week)
- Clean Windows (1 or 2 times per week depending on need)
- Wipe Baseboards (At least once a week depending on need)
- Sweep & Mop Tile Floors Daily
- Dust (wet or dry depending on need)
- Remove Cobwebs (Check Daily)
- Buff Tile Floors (1 or 2 times per week, depending on wear)
- Vacuum Carpet and or Rugs
- Furniture (Dust or wipe down depending on type)
Requirements
- Experience: At least two (2) years of custodial experience. Combination of education and experience could waive specific requirement.

Physical Requirements
- Physical Requirements: The Custodial position is a physically demanding position. The incumbent must spend the entire time at work standing, walking, lifting heavy objects, operating medium weight cleaning equipment such as floor buffers, sweeping and mopping floors, moving desks, and furniture. The incumbent is required to do a great deal of stretching and bending, often in awkward positions. Operating floor polishers and waxers are particularly hard on back muscles. This position primarily works evening hours with little supervision.
- Lifting: 50 pound requirement
- Exposure to Elements: Normal office environment; occasional severe weather (heat, cold, ice)
- Exposure to Hazards: Employee works with cleaning chemicals; may unknowingly come into contact with communicable diseases
- Risk of Assault or Injury: High risk because position is very physical and active, employee will be required to monitor and follow safely protocol. Working with power equipment can create hazards and injury.
