About the role

Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) offers career-training programs in numerous technical, industrial and medical fields at a reasonable cost, going so far as to even waive tuition for certain eligible students. Located in Richlands, Virginia, SWCC offers associate’s degrees in such fields as business, education, general studies, liberal arts and science. These degrees are primarily intended for students who wish to transfer to a four-year university. SWCC also has associate’s degrees that feature programs intended to lead directly to a career in fields such as Nursing, Radiography and Administration of Justice.

Responsibilities

• Maintain acceptable daily sanitation standards in any given area which meets local, state, and federal requirements.
• Perform general housekeeping and custodial duties including mopping, vacuuming, dusting and buffing floors, trash removal, cleaning restrooms and windows, and stripping and refinishing floors.
• Care for and handle housekeeping equipment, supplies, and assigned keys.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Housekeeping Supervisor, Facilities Manager or by the VP of Finance and Administration.
• May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.

Requirements

• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Basic computer skills required.
• Ability to follow instructions.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to safely and efficiently operate electrically powered and manual cleaning equipment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Additional Considerations

• Commercial/industrial cleaning experience preferred.
• Operation of a State Vehicle may be required.

Schedule

• Monday through Friday day shift.
• Up to 29 hours per week.
