Custodian

Location: Uinta County School District #1, Evanston, Wyoming

Salary: $19.20 per hour

Hours: Regular full-time position, 8 hours/day, 5 days/week; 12 months

About the role

The Uinta County School District #1 Custodian supports the school by maintaining the building and grounds to create a learning environment that promotes health, attitude, and works to support the success of students academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally.

Qualifications

Minimum qualification: High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Clean assigned areas of the building and keep buildings clean and orderly, including but not limited to:
  • Picking up and collecting trash
  • Sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, disinfecting, scrubbing tables
  • Cleaning restrooms
  • Maintenance and care for building plants
  • Sweeping entries and sidewalks
• Communicate with Lead custodian regarding needs for cleaning closets.
• Perform daily maintenance of the cafeteria, including but not limited to:
  • Cleaning tables
  • Sweeping and scrubbing floors
  • Removal of trash
  • Setting up and taking down tables and chairs
  • Assisting Cafeteria staff as needed
• Conduct seasonal deep cleaning during summer breaks and holiday breaks.
• Support Lead Custodian in maintaining building safety and security, including but not limited to:
  • Checking all doors and windows are closed and locked when building is not in use
  • Working knowledge of all chemicals used in the building, their proper storage, and handling
  • Checking all fire extinguishers for compliance
  • Staying aware of any safety concerns within the building or on the grounds
  • Being aware of scheduled regular monthly preventative maintenance
  • Removing snow and ice to keep building grounds safe

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

• Regularly required to communicate with others
• Required to sit or stand and move around for extended periods of time
• Must be able to push, pull, lift, and carry over 25 pounds on occasion
• May experience occasional exposure to blood, bodily fluids, and tissue
• May be required to interact with unruly children
