Assists the Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager in maintaining an organized, clean, and safe working environment, which contributes to the overall operation and well-being of the facility.
Responsibilities
- Cleans and supplies facility interior including restrooms, break/lunchrooms, changing rooms, lobby, conference rooms, and offices.
- Performs routine cleaning and/or polishing of furniture and office equipment; cleans drapes or window blinds/shades; washes windows, counters, walls, ceilings, and woodwork.
- Sweeps, vacuums, shampoos, scrubs, and waxes floors; empties trash containers as needed.
- Ensures day-to-day continuity of cleaning schedule by maintaining an inventory of custodial supplies, advising when supplies need to be ordered, and making recommendations for proper cleaning supplies.
- Assists production by helping in the movement of product within the facility as necessary (may require tow motor qualification).
- Supports Maintenance function by performing general minor maintenance tasks (painting, plumbing, lighting, and other building repairs).
- Performs messenger and delivery activities within and outside of the facility (mail, parts from suppliers, etc.).
- Completes required training and re-training to follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment to ensure safety.
- Sets up, arranges, and removes decorations, tables, chairs, etc., to prepare the facility for meetings, events, and functions.
- Contributes in a team effort by performing in accordance with all STERIS policies, GMP, Lean principles, and other directives; supports decisions of higher-level management and performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school Diploma or GED.
- Valid driver’s license.
- A minimum of 1 year of experience in general housekeeping.
- Ability to support neighboring facility weekly.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Minimum of Level 1 math skills (add and subtract 2-digit numbers; multiply and divide 10’s and 100’s by 2, 3, 4, 5; ability to use the four arithmetic functions with money, measurements such as cup, pint, inch, foot, lbs., etc.).
- Understands and follows safety policies and procedures, including bloodborne pathogens training and safe lifting techniques.
- Basic computer skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to effectively read, write, and verbally communicate.
- Ability to work independently under general guidelines and supervision.
- Effective interpersonal skills as demonstrated through prior experience.
- Able to adapt to changing duties and responsibilities.
- Normal hearing range sufficient to hear alarms, bells, horns, etc.

Pay
$15.49 per hour plus a $2.00 shift differential. This position is eligible for bonus participation.
Schedule
Monday - Friday, 4:00 PM - 12:30 AM.
