Custodian

About the role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all areas assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties
• Perform all duties listed on the daily schedule
• Perform Hazardous Waste responsibilities including collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, packaging of special and hazardous waste
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment
• Maintain daily upkeep of assigned area
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures
• Stop at‑risk behavior of others and self
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees
• Perform repetitive tasks
• Maintain clean work area
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules
• Take direction and respond to supervision
• Talk with lead, supervisor, co‑workers, managers, and customers in a professional manner
• Fill in during staff shortage
• Support shift lead in completing punch‑list items
• Use proper personal protective equipment
• Present a professional appearance and conduct
• Understand customer service and satisfaction
• The ability to drive to various work locations, customer sites, or company facilities may be necessary to perform the essential functions of this position
• Understand reporting systems and the environment

Requirements

• No specific education requirement; 3‑6 months training or experience preferred, or equivalent combination
• A valid driver's license may be required; must maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and meet company driving eligibility requirements
• Completed all safety and task training certification; forklift certification may be required

Qualifications

• Bilingual a plus
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment; willing to share with team
• Knowledge of the upkeep and care of cleaning equipment
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, efficient use
• Physical demands: frequently required to sit and talk or listen; must be able to lift and/or move up to 35 pounds

• This position has no supervisory responsibilities

Pay

$16.50‑$17.50 per hour
