Custodian

About the Role

The Custodian is responsible for the cleanliness and sanitation of all assigned areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties and all tasks listed on the daily schedule.
• Handle Hazardous Waste responsibilities: collecting, classifying, sorting, storing, shipping and receiving, labeling, cleaning, recycling, and packaging of special and hazardous waste.
• Operate motorized cleaning equipment and maintain its upkeep and care.
• Maintain daily cleanliness of assigned area.
• Report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.
• Comply with safety rules, policies, and procedures; stop at-risk behavior of others and self.
• Perform work assignments in a team with other employees and support shift lead in completing punch-list items.
• Perform repetitive tasks while maintaining a clean work area.
• Follow all protocols, company procedures, policies, and rules.
• Take direction and respond to supervision; communicate professionally with leads, supervisors, co-workers, managers, and customers.
• Fill in during staff shortages and use proper personal protective equipment.
• Present a professional appearance and conduct; understand customer service and satisfaction.
• Understand reporting systems and environmental protocols.

Requirements

• No specific education requirement; 3-6 months of training or experience preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• Must complete all safety and task training certification.
• May require forklift certification.

Skills

• Bilingual ability is a plus.
• Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of cleaning methods, equipment, and willingness to share with the team.
• Knowledge of cleaning compounds and chemicals, and their safe, efficient use.

Schedule

Monday–Friday: 6:00 AM–1:30 PM

Pay

$16.00–$17.00 per hour
